Why did the spray make it worse?
Most consumer sprays are repellent. Roaches avoid the treated surface and push further into the wall voids instead, which can spread a single-cupboard problem across a whole floor.
I have only seen one.
A single large roach can be a wanderer from outside. A German cockroach almost never is — they live indoors in groups and breed quickly, so one usually means an established population.
How long does it take?
Most your area kitchens drop off sharply within a fortnight. Clearing a German cockroach population properly takes the follow-up visit to catch the hatch.
